@Furcifer:

In my own personal opinion I believe that charging for themes/plugins ETC for a fully GPL project is just wrong in the first place

Your own personal opinion is what is just plain wrong. The GPL explicitly grants the right to sell GPL code. You need to re-read the GPL. Really: it's not that long or too difficult of a read.

And the "vote with your feet" canard is long-since tiresome as both an argument and a retort. Nobody needs or wants to fork WordPress.

It took you several posts to figure out I have a problem with how Matt & Automattic are running the WordPress project?

I guess after that statement it shouldn't surprise me that your opinion about the GPL is so uninformed.

You know what else I'm welcome to do? Continue to voice my opinion on issues surrounding WordPress. I don't need or want to fork the software, but thanks for the offer.

After reading several of the more recent posts on this site, it's starting to look like someone has a serious grudge against Matt and Automattic, in the politest possible terms, you need to get over it, it is not going to change, and your constant complaining is not going to force it to change.

In my own personal opinion I believe that charging for themes/plugins ETC for a fully GPL project is just wrong in the first place, that's not to say that I disagree with charging for support ETC or charging a one of fee to a theme-club type site where once the fee is paid, every theme on that site can be downloaded.

However if you really are that unhappy with the way things are then go ahead and create a fork, I doubt it would last very long or ever outdo the original, but you are welcome to try.

"But I don’t rule enough. That’s the trouble with me."

That pretty much sums up the last few years of Wordpress
